There is an element of trust involved. Production companies can really feel that trust with loyal customers who understand that you understand their mission. This gives the production company more creative space. At the start of a partnership, you have to work hard to establish trust between the agency and the client. Clients should be open and honest, say what they want to accomplish, when it needs to be done, and give the production company as much information as possible upfront. This helps the agency work out a project before rolling the tape. Giving all the information up front also allows the video production company to be creative and throw ideas back at the client that they may not have thought of. It is important to be involved in a project as it is created. Get involved in writing the script, be physically present on the day of filming, point out anything that may have been missed during the editing process, and keep a critical eye. Say what you mean and don't sugarcoat it. We are there for the customer. We want your feedback and reviews, so don't feel bad about sending in a list of 20 items of reviews for a 2 minute video. TS: Generally, the more time you have to plan pre-production, the better. It's hard for me to really say how long each project takes. Some videos can be shot in about a week, while others are complex and take months to release. Start looking for a production company when you have a concept to ensure it gets made when you need it.

DR: What questions should clients ask themselves when looking for the best video production agency for their brand? TS: First, review a portfolio to make sure the company has the capability and experience in your particular area. Many video production companies are laser-focused on what they do, but their signature subject or style may have nothing to do with your brand and goals. For example, a production company that only has navigational videos on their website may not be the right person to film bios for your law firm. It's also important to sit down with the creative team – whether or not you've finalized the concept – to get a feel for them. Can they make you feel comfortable in front of the camera? Your conversation could be revealing. Then ask agencies: What experience do you have with companies like ours? What similar projects have you done? Contract and contractual obligation? Additional charges for more editing passes? Promotional uses? How long will it take? Budgeting is also extremely important. The base cost of production services varies greatly from company to company. Production Color Correction Service companies with large in-house staff and facilities have a lot of overhead to cover, , like mine, have very low overhead and can offer the same quality at a much reduced price because we have a smaller nut to cover. You want to find an agency that will respect your budget. Best Video Production Companies DR: What can clients do to facilitate strong collaboration with a video production company throughout a project? TS: Communication between the two companies is very important.
